This course develops competence with the oil paint medium through specific assignments designed to emphasize composition and the fundamentals of painting and color. Attention is given to visual thinking, exploration, exposure to materials, and technical procedures. The course is structured around individual instruction and group critiques. ART-231 helps develop ideas and competence with a creative medium. It promotes the articulation of feelings and objectives through a descriptive visual vocabulary.
