Upon successful completion, students will be able to:

 1.       Provide safe, holistic, and compassionate care that recognizes the patient or family as the source of control, assisting in the development and implementation of individualized plans of care.

 2.       Collaborate effectively with patients, support systems, and members of the healthcare team by communicating clearly and contributing to coordinated, team-based care that promotes optimal patient outcomes.

 3.       Demonstrate professional accountability and integrity by upholding legal and ethical standards of practical nursing while integrating best current evidence, clinical expertise, and patient/family preferences to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered care.

 4.       Seek information about care outcomes for various populations and describe approaches for improving and changing care processes to enhance quality and patient outcomes.

 5.       Practice in a manner that minimizes risk of harm to patients and healthcare team members by following established safety and infection control procedures and maintaining accountability for safe nursing care.

 6.       Use basic technology and electronic health records to document care and communicate with the healthcare team.

 7.       Exhibit accountability, integrity, and respect in all interactions. Engage in life-long learning by reflecting on practice, continuously seeking opportunities for personal and professional growth.
