Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the basics of the duties, powers and the institutions of American Government.

  2. Analyze and describe some of the power dimensions of politics; “who gets what, when and how.”

  3. Describe key concepts, theories and ideas utilized in basic political science, political philosophy and law.

  4. Explain key issues, concepts and the theories within international relations.

  5. Analyze the attributes of individual public policies and their consequences on society.

  6. Summarize scholarly articles, write a literature review and understand the basics of how political science research is carried out.

  7. Explain how to become more involved in their communities and understand why participation in politics is important.

In addition to the program outcomes, students will meet the North Idaho College General Education (GEM) Requirements.
